A Great Three Days at the SPCP Convention!
What a great three days at this year's SPCP Convention in Phoenix!
One of the things I love most about attending these events is getting to spend time with people who share the same passion for our industry. It's always nice to catch up with old friends, meet new people and just chat about what we all do every day.
I really enjoyed the hands-on workshops this year. It's one thing to sit and listen to someone talk about a technique, but actually getting to try it yourself, ask questions along the way and learn from the presenters makes such a difference. I definitely came away having learnt a few new things!
There were also some really interesting presentations throughout the three days, with lots of useful information to take home.
I have to say, one of my favourite parts was the Panel of Experts. There were some great questions asked, and I loved hearing the different opinions and experiences from the panel. It's always interesting to hear how other professionals approach things, and I think we all picked up something from those discussions.
I came home with some new ideas, a few things I want to try and feeling really glad I made the trip.
Already looking forward to seeing everyone again in Tulsa next year!

SPCP Recognizes Its First CPCP-Certified Professional in Spain
The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP) is pleased to recognize Airton Barbalho, CPCP, as the first professional in Spain to achieve the Certified Permanent Cosmetic Professional (CPCP) credential.
This milestone represents another step in the international reach of SPCP certification and reflects the growing interest among permanent makeup professionals worldwide in demonstrating their knowledge and commitment to professional standards.
Based in Castellón de la Plana, Spain, Airton is a Biomedical Aesthetics Specialist and founder of AB Clínica de Medicina Estética. With more than 11 years of clinical experience, his professional work includes permanent makeup procedures such as microblading, lip blush, and eyeliner, alongside advanced aesthetic treatments.
One of the reasons Airton pursued CPCP certification was to demonstrate his knowledge against an established, examination-based professional standard.
"The CPCP gave me a common language with the American professional community. My work is to make PMU safer through better intake, better aftercare and published data, and that is where I want to contribute." - Airton
The SPCP is proud to welcome Airton to its growing international community of certified professionals.

Introducing the CSMP Certification!
Certified Scalp Micropigmentation Professional (CSMP)
The SPCP is proud to introduce its newest professional certification, created specifically for artists working in the growing field of scalp micropigmentation (SMP).
The CSMP certification recognizes professionals who have demonstrated their knowledge of scalp micropigmentation, including safety practices, technical understanding, and professional standards.
Whether you specialize exclusively in SMP or offer it alongside other permanent cosmetic procedures, the CSMP provides an opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to professionalism, continued education, and industry standards.
Why become CSMP certified?
Earning your CSMP credential helps you stand out as a professional who values education, safety, and industry recognition. It also gives clients added confidence when choosing an SMP artist.
The first CSMP examination was introduced at the 2026 SPCP Convention in Phoenix, marking an exciting milestone for the SMP industry.
Interested in becoming CSMP certified? Visit the SPCP website to learn more about eligibility requirements, the certification process, and upcoming examination opportunities.
